This is to communicate to all the concerned that, the Joint Inspection Committee consisting of members from DEC, UGC and AICTE visited Acharya Nagarjuna University on 6th and 7th August, 2009 and completed inspection of Centre for Distance Education and accorded Ex-Post-Facto approval and continuation of provisional recognition to all the courses offered by CDE, ANU till a final decision is made by the Joint Committee. The relevant communications received from DEC are given below:
1. The Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi, vide its letter No. DEC/Univ./ State/07/5567, dated:31-08-2007 has granted provisional recognition to Centre for Distance Education, Acharya Nagarjuna University for offering programs (approved by statutory bodies of Acharya Nagarjuna University) through distance mode for a period of one year with effect from 31-08-2007.
Note: - CDE introduced B.Tech. courses under the distance mode w.e.f. the Academic year 2006-07 batch and M.Tech. (Computer Science Engineering) from the Calendar year 2008 batch and are covered in the above orders.
2. The Joint Inspection Committee of DEC, UGC and AICTE visited Acharya Nagarjuna University and completed inspection of Centre for Distance Education on 6th and 7th August, 2009. The Joint Inspection Committee also considered the application of the University for Ex-Post Facto Approval of all the courses offered by Centre for Distnace Education, Acharya Nagarjuna University.
3. The Distance Education Council (DEC) has, vide its letter No. DEC/ANU/GNTR/AP/2009/4419, dated:24-11-2009, based on the recommendation of the Standing Committee of DEC that evaluated the application of Acharya Nagarjuna University, accorded Ex-Post-Facto approval to Acharya Nagarjuna University for programmes offered through distance mode with effect from 1995 to the Academic year 2007-08 as per the enclosed list in ANNEXURE - I (144 courses offered by CDE, ANU). The letter also specified that the certificates issued by the University stand automatically recognized if they were approved by the relevant authorities of the University. The B.Tech. and M.Tech. (CSE) courses are offered with the course curriculam approved by the competent authorities of the University i.e., Advisory Commitee, Core Board of Studies and Academic Senate etc.,
It is not out of context to mention here that it is the considered opinion of many Universities that the state-run Universities being autonomous bodies in the area of higher learning, need not take prior approval from AICTE to run B.Tech. / M.Tech. programmes, if these programmes are approved by the statutory bodies of the respective University.
4. The Distane Education Council (DEC) vide its letter No. DEC/2009/4919 dated:17-12-2009, has granted continuation of the provisional recognition to Centre for Distance Education, Acharya Nagarjuna University for the programmes offered under the distance mode, till a final decision is taken by the Joint Inspection Committee. The letter also mentioned that, the proposal for granting regular recognition to Acharya Nagarjuna University is under process.
